BLONDE EMB1  DOLL SET:  Aly Hodge (Mummy - 16/5/2008)

"I received my doll this morning thank you.I've been out all day with the girls so the kids only had an hours play before getting ready for bed.I was very impressed and so were Kieran and Caitlin.Kieran had the baby up his top making glugging sounds then he was burping it.He liked that the nappy came off.I liked the fact it was a cloth nappy, I'm an avid user.Caitlin watched me put the baby to the breast and I asked her what was baby doing. She answered, ' Having booby milk'.They actually argued over who was going to breastfeed next!!! I'm going to let Caitlin take the doll to nursery on Monday. She goes to a children's centre where I'll try and see if they would be willing to purchase some.A new children's centre has opened at the other end of town so I'll see my HV about approaching them. Then Wednesday is the bf group. So I'll show my HV the doll".

UPDATE from Aly 2/3/09 -

A testimonial sent for a Business challenge, entered March 2009.

I was one of the first people to recieve a boobie buddy breastfeeding doll.I am a mum of 3 children of whom I have breastfed all. When my first daughter (2nd child) recieved a dolll with a dummy and bottle as a Christmas present when she was 15 months old, I was very disapointed as she was still being breastfed and I really wanted a doll that showed how she was fed. It wasn't until several months later and she had already stopped breastfeeding and I was heavily pregnant with number 3 that I went on the search. After making a few inquiries via Lisa Cole of The Mothers Milk Marketing board I was directed to Pip, After emails and patience, I got my doll.It was a hit with two older children (aged 6 and 3) and enjoying playing with it very much. It's so safe I let my 11 month daughter play with it.They playing with her hair, latching baby on to mummy, taking off it's nappy, (I am washable nappy user, so this was thumbs up) pretending to burp it.I have taken the doll to my local breastfeeding group, Buttercup babies, Chippenham for the children to play with. The mums are impressed with it too as it's not something that is seen by the public or media as being normal which is sad.One of the mums even bought one herself. The health visitor who runs the group, has used it demostrate on new mums who come to the group how to latch on their baby.I've also taken the doll to ante-natal breastfeeding workshops at my local hospital to show how breastfeeding has for the last 6 years is a normal and positive part of life for my children and my family. The most visited place the doll has been is to her nursery.Again, I think it's important for children to be reminded that they were breastfed and those who weren't what boobs are really for.I praise Pip's determination on her promoting breastfeeding in such an educational but fun way. There are not many of us who have an idea that is unique enough to change people's attitudes to breastfeeding and for me it I think it should start with our own children.

Serena Oborne. (Mum) 23/05/08    ETHNIC EMB2 DOLL SET

Serena very kindly sent me a hand written card with a personal review, which has now been added as a review on the product page also (Thank you!)

"We love the soft cuddly body of the doll set - it makes a nice blend between doll and cuddly and the breastfeeding and real nappy elements are more reflective of my choices of parenting style.  The size is just right and my daughters 6 month old dresses also fit the doll! - so we have had fun changing into different outfits -poor baby is still only in a nappy, but we have made a carrying sling from a large hankerchief. Hours of innocent fun being had! Hugh my son has one concern ? "Where is the Mummy's belly button?"  In conclusion it's a great product offering lots of opportunities for imaginative play!

Many Thanks Serena Oborne. Gloucestershire. Mum to Sophia 13 months & Hugh 5 1/2 yrs.

They are adorable. Can we give you a link on our website? I gave your details to someone who is organising the Biological Nurturing Conference in London. Don’t know if you have heard of biological nurturing but these dolls are in full biological nurturing positions. Fab!

Philippa is based in Kent and runs a community interest company that is doing project management of breastfeeding services for Eastern And Coastal Kent PCT. She purchased dolls to show local groups and HPs, and further orders since!

John Fowler  (Manager of Childrens Centre) 06/08/08   BLONDE EMB1 DOLL SETS

Dear Pip - Your package arrived this morning – Seashells, the Sheerness Children and Families centre is proud to have the doll with us -  We met with Assistant Director of Public Health,  Eastern and Coastal Kent PCT – overall responsibility for breastfeeding within the PCT on Monday. He left with several of your leaflets. Best Wishes and Many Thanks.

One of the lucky winners who entered the TIPS Site comp to win a doll set chose BLONDE EMB1.

Sue's comments via Sharon Trotter's NEW Forum pages (lactivism thread) (26/08/2008)

"We were lucky enough to win these in the Newsletter competition and I agree that they are wonderful. Maia always 'feeds' her dolls herself by tucking them up inside her t-shirt and I was always so exasperated when I went to shops and all the dolls had bottles and dummies. Maia loves her Boobie Buddies and very quickly worked out how to get the dolls to feed and cuddle up. It's lovely to watch."

Sue has also left a fantastic review via these site pages also - please read! (Thank you)

Christine Griffin Blonde EMB1 Blonde doll set  purchased: 11/11/08

'I purchased the boobie buddie doll and baby for my daughter who I want to
grow up seeing breastfeeding as the 'norm' and not bottlefeeding.  Trying to
purchase a doll that breastfeeds was impossible and so I was over the moon
to find this wonderful product.  As a breastfeeding counsellor for the NCT,
it is also a super tool to take into schools to enable children to see
breastfeeding is how babies are fed.'

Barbara EMB1 Blonde doll set 27/05/08

I bought a doll set from Boobie Buddies and am impressed by the good
quality workmanship of the dolls. I am even more impressed by the
wonderful service I received from Pip Wheelwright, who has excellent
communication skills and kept me informed about the date when the
dolls would be ready. She even kindly agreed to send the doll set to
arrive for my daughter's birthday so that I didn't need to keep it
hidden at home.

The dolls are educational, great fun and robustly made. The service
Mrs Wheelwright offers is second to none and I hope her business goes
from strength to strength.

Yours sincerely  Barbara

We ordered a breast feeding doll from Boobiebuddies.   21/05/08 Blonde EMB1 doll set.

The service was fast efficient and discussions on the phone were very helpful. The doll is very robust and played with frequently in our groups. Please find attached a picture of Dianna playing with the doll which features in this year’s Seashell calendar for the month of January. Many Thanks.

Eithne Canavan -  August 2009  BLONDE EMB1 Doll set.

Dear Mrs Wheelwright

Many thanks for the swift delivery of our doll- My 8 month old (still breastfed) and nine year old have being enjoying her all day.  We saw the dolls on the local news and thought that they were a fantastic idea.  I have often wondered why the uptake of breastfeeding is so low in this country and I am sure it is partially to do with the fact that growing up and even as an adult you hardly ever see babies being breastfed.  I think it should be seen as a natural part of everyday life and perhaps many more mothers and babies would benefit from the advantages of breastfeeding.  I am sure your dolls will help to encourage this.

Kind regards

Eithne Canavan

'I'm a lactation consultant, and visit mothers at home and give presentations on breastfeeding. I have used my Boobie Buddies many times to explain baby's positions and attachment, using the mother as the baby as well as showing how the pair fit together. Everyone finds them attractive, and I like the fact that they are lightweight and don't mind being squashed up small in the bottom of my bag!

A reply via Philippa Armstrong who won a Ethnic  EMB2 Doll set via TIPs site - March 2010

Hi Pip - Just a quick note to thank you for the doll. She arrived this week.
I am actually a trainee antenatal teacher with the NCT and so will be taking her along with me to my next tutorial, along with a few of your leaflets to let the other students see her as I think she may be a really useful and interesting teaching aid.
Thanks again and I wish you all the best with your business.

Thank you for your ongoing support everyone!.
